The Willem C. Vis Moot Court gave us- commercial and maritime law students- the opportunity to study the law of arbitration and the CISG in depth and to master several oral pleading sessions throughout the year. From September 2011 onwards, the team was preparing two written memoranda and finally had the chance and challenge to prove itself in the oral pleadings against both American and French universities in Vienna.

Already the opening ceremony in Vienna showed that the Willem C. Vis Moot is growing both in number and variety of nationalities. This was not only reflected in the composition of our team with four different nationalities, but also in the use of the CIETAC Arbitration Rules for this year"s problem. The pleadings itself, the different social activities throughout the week in one of the nicest European cities, the exchange of business cards and the awards banquet closing the final pleadings certainly made this week one of the most exciting in a Mootie"s life. The experience in Vienna will certainly remain an unforgettable one!
