Programme Coordinator

Professor Filip De Ly (born 1959) teaches private international law, comparative law and international business law. Professor De Ly has written 5 books (including International business law and lex mercatoria, Amsterdam, North Holland 1992) and co-authored/edited 5 books. He published some 80 articles, 14 case notes and 48 reports and book reviews. He is Chairman of the International Contracts Working Group (see Marcel Fontaine and Filip De Ly, Drafting International Contracts, An Analysis of Contract Clauses, Transnational, New York, 2006, 658 pp.). In 2002, he was appointed Chairman of the International Commercial Arbitration Committee of the International Law Association. He also is a member of the Arbitration Commission of the ICC, a member of the London Court of International Arbitration, a board member of the Netherlands Arbitration Institute and a Council Member of the ICC Institute of World Business Law.

Filip De Ly studied at Ghent Law School (Belgium) and obtained a LL.M. degree from Harvard Law School in 1983. He has worked for the US-law firm Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton in Brussels (1983-1986) and as Associate Professor at Utrecht Law School (The Netherlands).
