Health and Liability Insurance
All students should have health and liability insurance during their stay in the Netherlands. The Erasmus University is not liable for medical or legal expenses of students. The insurances mentioned below only apply if you are here for short-term study purposes! For other purposes of stay or long-term stay, other insurances apply. For more information please contact the international office. If you come from a visa required country we will apply for your visa under the condition that you have arranged insurance. Insurance must provide the following coverage:
Coverage
- medical expenses (including dental expenses)
- extraordinary costs (including repatriation expenses)
- legal aid
- accidents
- liability
- loss of baggage and householdgoods
EU health card
If you are from the EU/EEA or Switzerland, it's possible to use your local health insurance for coverage in the Netherlands. For other nationalities, we refer to Aon below. You can apply for an EU healthcard with your own insurance company. Upon arrival in the Netherlands you have to send a copy of this card and your address in the Netherlands to the following Dutch insurance company:
ANIS Zorgverzekeringen
P.O. Box 4200
3800 EE Amersfoort
If you consult a general practitioner or you are referred to a hospital, the invoice will directly be sent to ANIS Zorgverzekeringen. Please note that this card does not cover liability!
AON (Insurance Certificate for Students, 'the Complete ICS')
For more information please check the insurance called ICS Complete at the AON website. You enter their website by stating your country of origin and country of destination. On the entry webpage click the link 'find out which ICS package' at the bottom. Then 'ICS Insurance Packages' in the column to the left and 'ICS Complete', see My Aon (ICS). You can apply for an 'ICS Complete' online, please do NOT take out 'Basic Health Care Insurance' by mistake as this is much more expensive! If you come from a visa required country, we advise you to indicate that you would like to receive a scanned confirmation of the policy by e-mail. Because for obtaining a multiple entry (D+C) visa you will need to show proof of health insurance at the embassy.
Insurance through other companies
All the above mentioned items should be covered. This should be stated in a declaration (in English) signed and stamped by the accountmanager of your insurance company. A policynumber should be clearly stated.
