Residence Permit
All non EU/EEA citizens who are staying longer than 3 months will need to apply for a residence permit within 3 days upon arrival in Rotterdam. The Erasmus Student Service Centre (ESSC) will arrange the application for you. Further instructions will follow at the start of the semester. Students should be aware of the costs involved and the requirements mentioned below.
Required documents for a residence permit
- The fee for a temporary residence permit for students staying longer than 3 months is set at € 188 for visa-required students, and € 433 for students who are from a country in/have a nationality belonging to a country in Group II. The fee will have to be paid at the Erasmus Student Service Centre (ESSC) upon arrival. For payment by creditcard the fee will be € 197,40 and € 451,65 respectively.
- birth certificate with a translation into English, French or German by a certified translator.
- proof of health insurance with coverage in the Netherlands.
- 2 coloured passportphotos (looking face front).
- letter of acceptance.
- coupon confirming your official registration, enclosed with your studentcard.
- valid passport, if applicable with MVV sticker.
- proof of financial proficiency* only for students who are from a country in/have a nationality belonging to a country in Group II.
- prepared to take a TBC test when asked.
- rental agreement from your landlord/-lady or housing cooperation.
- prepared to sign a declaration of Study Awareness/Purpose of stay.
* Financial proficiency for a residence permit corresponds with the financial support required for a visa.
