Sanders Law Library to remain in Mandeville Building for time being

Sanders Law Library, the Erasmus School of Law library, will continue to be accommodated on the 19th floor of the Mandeville Building (T Building) for the coming months. This will guarantee that all ESL employees and students can continue to utilise the library facilities.

ESL Researcher Alberto Quintavalla, associate at the Jean Monnet Chair of Economic Analysis of European Law, has been selected as speaker at the II Inter-American Congress on the Environmental Rule of Law. This congress aims to promote debate on environmental laws.

€ 30.000,- grant for ESL research on risk perception of terrorism

Erasmus School of Law researcher dr. Elena Kantorowicz-Reznichenko has been awarded a € 30.000,- grant from the Leiden-Delft-Erasmus Strategic Alliance, Centre for Safety and Security (LDE CSS). Dr. Kantorowicz-Reznichenko and her team have received the grant for their work on the risk perception of terrorism.

Recently, two colleagues from ESL defended their doctoral theses. Dr. Menelaos Markakis, currently Postdoctoral Researcher at the European Research Centre of Economic and Financial Governance (EURO-CEFG), defended his thesis on “Political and Legal Accountability in Economic and Monetary Union” at Oxford University. Dr. Marijn van der Sluis defended his thesis “In Law We Trust” at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy and is currently Assistant Professor at the International and European Union Law Department of ESL.

On 26 June 2017, Erasmus School of Law, in association with De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek, held a symposium titled: Compliance Programmes - Beyond Mere Symbolism. The Symposium was held on the occasion of the Inaugural Lecture delivered by Prof. dr. Sharon Oded, who publicly accepted his appointment to Erasmus Chair of Corporate Compliance and Enforcement.

This is a thematic seminar on the EU’s global strategy for foreign and security policy. ELS’s Alberto Quintavalla, representing the Jean Monnet Chair of Economic Analysis of European Law, was one of the invited participants.
