Mooting Competition Masterclass

The Department of International and European Union Law has relaunched its Mooting Competition Masterclass for the academic year 2017/2018. Successful applicants will be able to participate in two of the most renowned moot courts in the field, namely the ‘European Law Moot Court’, with a focus on EU Law, and the ‘Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition’ for students interested in International Law.

The selected teams of students will replicate the phases of an international judicial process, arguing in both applicant and respondent positions. Participants will work on preparing written memorials and oral pleadings and will have the chance to compete with fellow teams from other universities during national and potentially international rounds.

The Mooting Competition Masterclass will take place from September 2017 to March 2018.

Subject to an assessment of their active involvement and passing a final exam, participating students will be allocated 5 ECTS and will only have to follow one of the electives that they would normally have to follow in Block 4 of the LLM programme.

The recruitment process will take place on Thursday the 14th of September. If you wish to apply, please send an email to by the 11th of September with your CV, a list of grades of your last study trajectory and a six-line explanation of your motivation to participate in the mooting. A maximum of four students will be admitted to each mooting programme. Please note that you can only take place in one of the two competitions.
